HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 1, 2023) The Lady Pirates were dropped by the W&M Tribe in straight sets in their second game of the weekend. It ended 21-25, 17-25, 5-25.

Madison Clark led the Lady Pirates in kills with eight kills followed by teammate
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues with seven.
Kalyn Pierre provided the setting for most of the match with 10 assists while
Nadja Bulatovic posted six.
Rickelle Wescott and
Kylah Hunter each had an ace

Clark notched nine digs with Hunter trailing shortly behind with eight. Hampton outblocked the Tribe for a second straight match. Wescott recorded her season high with four blocks and
Rhisen Davis tallied two.

Set 1
Â
Set 1 started very similar to how the last set in yesterday's match ended. It was close, and neither team could take a big lead. The Lady Pirates started off strong taking a 2-0 lead. Hunter stretched the lead to 7-4 following her third ace of the season. The Tribe took six of the next seven and pulled ahead at 8-10. Hampton regathered the lead at 17-15 as Wescott and Davis combined for a block. A late five-point run for the Tribe sealed the set at 21-25.

The Lady Pirates started the second off slow as the Tribe jumped out to an early lead (1-8). Hampton was able to string three points together and narrow the score to six at 5-11. William and Mary continued to pull away as the set finished 17-25.

Â
Hampton took the first point in set three but were unable to find any footing as the set continued. Clark had two kills in the set as it ended 5-25.
