Box Score Hampton, VA. - The Lady Pirates finished the weekend with an 11-1 run-rule win over Winthrop in five innings Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates improve to an overall 12-19 record, 3-6 in conference play.
"This weekend was a good representation of Hampton softball," said head coach

How It Happened:Â
- Winthrop got off to a quick start in the top of the first, with McGalliard scoring the first run afterÂ
- In the bottom of the first inning, the Pirates took control of the game and never looked back. Junior Kennedi Bedell set the tempo for HU with the first at-bat, recording the Pirate's first hit and run; she advanced to second on a dropped fly and then scored on a throwing error.Â
- Juniors Mo'Ne Davis (Philadelphia, PA), Tiera Washington (Chesapeake, VA), and Senior Kiaya Jeusi (Woodbridge, VA) followed up with three unearned runs giving the Pirates the lead. (1-4)
- The Lady Pirates increased their lead, scoring three runs by Bedell, Davis, and Jeusi on a muffed throw in the fifth inning. (1-7)
- At the bottom of the third inning, Hampton showed no mercy scoring four runs to extend the lead 11-1).
- Jeusi recorded a personal season-best of three hits.

th, for a doubleheader at 1 PM and 3 PM.
