Jim Heath To Be Inducted Into USCAA Hall Of Fame

HAMPTON, Va. (April 1, 2026) … It was announced this week that Hampton University Director of Strategic and Broadcast Communications Jim Heath is part of a five-member class of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Hall of Fame.

A native of Hampton, Va., he worked in the Hampton sports information office for two years before being promoted to Sports Information Director in 2017. Heath helped promote the first HBCU to field a Division I men's lacrosse team and played a role in Hampton's move from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) to the Big South and eventually to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).

He rejoined the Pirates in November of 2024 where he serves as the media contact for Women's Basketball, Track and Field, Cross Country, Softball and Women's Soccer.

James "Jim" Heath has built a distinguished career in athletic communications and sports information, highlighted by his long-standing service and impact within collegiate athletics and the USCAA. A graduate of Christopher Newport, Heath spent 15 years as the Sports Information Director at The Apprentice School, where he helped support and promote seven national championship programs and played a key role in athletic communications operations. Beyond campus, he contributed extensively to the USCAA, serving as the official scorer for national baseball championships for more than a decade, part of the official statistician crew for national basketball championships for six years and continuing to provide statistical support for over 20 years.

His career has also included leadership roles at institutions such as Hampton and Old Dominion, where he has advanced athletic visibility and communications strategy. Inducted into The Apprentice School Hall of Fame in 2023, Heath is recognized for his consistency, professionalism, and lasting contributions to collegiate athletics communications.

The USCAA's seventh annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies will take place on June 7 at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner and induction ceremony at the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Marriott.
