Box Score HAMPTON, VA- Hampton University Lacrosse suffered a 19-6 loss today against Cleveland State University.

The Vikings jumped out in front of the Pirates early in the first quarter with two scores from Adam Clark.Â

The Pirates got off to a slow start but gained some momentum on the offensive front in the second quarter after
Lonnie Jones (New Rochelle, NY) scored the Pirate's first goal.Â

The Vikings scored shortly after, but Hampton answered back as
Derian Williams-Sturdivant (Baltimore, MD) connected with
Jayden Price (Pearland, TX) to give the Pirates their second goal of the second quarter.Â

Defensively the Pirates struggled to slow the Vikings down; Cleveland State scored five unanswered points in the first quarter.Â

At the half, the Pirates trailed the Vikings by nine goals.

Darnell Fortune scored a goal in the third quarter to give the Pirates a much-needed spark. HU ended the quarter with a goal from  Williams-Sturdivant assisted by
Jonathan Angel (Long Island, NY).

Mid-way through the final quarter, Angel captured his first goal of the season. Issac Harris (Salem, VA) scored for HU late in the fourth quarter, but the Pirates would run out of time, dropping the contest to the Vikings (19-6).

The Pirates return to action on Saturday, March 26, 2022, hosting the University of Richmond at 3 PM.
