HAMPTON, Va. -- The Hampton University volleyball team fell to Elon University in their last home game for the season (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) Sunday afternoon inside Holland Hall. This loss puts Hampton at 3-14 overall and 0-14 in CAA action with their last games around the corner.
After a toe-to-toe first set, the Lady Pirates opened up set two with accurate powerful serves from Gabby Calloway and Kristine Teivane. Adding onto those powerful serves, steady kills
from Genevieve Reynolds and Madison Clark kept Elon on their toes. Nevertheless, Elon University met that power with a total of 15 kills for the set, taking the pirates by storm in the
remainder of the game. The Pirates responded with sturdy digs from Leanna Caldwell and a steady communication from the front line, in regards to blocks and recoveries. In spite of their
ambition, the Lady Pirates lost set two 25-17.
Moving into the third set, the energy was high as the Lady Pirates started off with swift defense, while Elon's Leah Daniels was returning hard kills. Digs from Gabby Calloway, Julieta
Campana, and Leanna Caldwell weren't unnoticed as they continued to go toe-to-toe with the Phoenx. Constant communication and steady movement on the court was beneficial, but
wasn't enough for Hampton to take the win.
Coming up next, Hampton University will close the regular season taking on the University of North Carolina Wilmington Nov. 12-13Â in Wilmington, North Carolina.
