HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University soccer team fell 4-1 to the visiting Eagles of Winthrop University on a sunny Saturday Afternoon. Freshman,
Mikayla Martin would score the only goal for the Lady Pirates.
Winthrop scored first as Keeley Leising set up Morrison Trnavsky to take a 1-0 lead at the 16 minute mark. Hampton would respond, as Martin headed in a cross kick from
Isobel Finnegan in the 29
th minute mark to tie the match at 1-1.
Natalie Royaards drilled a free kick to push the lead 2-1 at the 31 minute mark. The Eagles would score two goals in the second half to push the match open 4-1.
Both teams would tie in the shots 11-11, as
Nadia Bensarghin finished with three saves.
Hampton will be on the road Wednesday, October 16 at 4pm, as they take on Radford University.
