The Short Story: Â Hampton recorded its first win of the 2018 season behind goals from
Kynnedy Waldon,
Leslie Jaiyesmi, and Khaysa Cunningham en route to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Saint Peters University Peacocks. This win marked the first NCAA Division I win for the Lady Pirates in four-year history of the program.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Hampton had more corner kick chances 6-4
- Maya Andrews made nine saves for Hampton, while Victoria Scarratt made four for Saint Peters.
- Hampton outshot Saint Peters in the first half 8-4, but Saint Peters outshot the Pirates 10-5 in the second half of play.
WIN #1
This marked Hampton's first win over a NCAA Division I program in the history of the program. The Lady Pirates tied St. Peter's 2-2 to start the 2016 season and tied South Carolina State 3-3 late in the 2017 season before today's win.                                             Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an early flurry by Hampton produced five shots in the first 23 minutes, Kynnedy Waldon got Hampton on the board off a feed from Jada Lee at the 25:37 mark.
- Almost 12 minutes later, Jaiyesmi got a pass from Sydney Jackson and blasted one into the net to put Hampton up 2-0 at the 35:14 mark.
- With about 20 minutes left, Hampton caught a friendly bounce to produce the third goal.  Isobel Finnegan's shot on goal hit the crossbar and bounced to the feet of Cunningham who put the rebound in for the 3-0 lead at the 71:18 mark.

The Lady Pirates travels to Charleston, SC as they return back to action to take on The Citadel Sunday Sept. 9 at 12:00pm.
