The Short Story: Tennessee Tech never hit below .325 in a game on Thursday, posting 43 kills against just nine errors to capture a victory in the first match of the Tennessee Tech Tournament. Thursday was the first matchup between the two schools.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Erica Grant led the way for Tennessee Tech with 14 kills on a .480 hitting percentage, adding two assists, two aces, and five digs.
- Megann Delgado paced HU with nine kills and six digs.
- Brooke Irvin once again led the Lady Pirates in assists, finishing with nine.
- The match was decided at the net as TTU hit .374 (43 kills, nine errors) against Hampton's .058 (23 kills, 18 errors).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hampton tied the first game at one on a Sasha Saric kill, but a 10-0 run put Tennessee Tech up 11-1. The Golden Eagles led by at least nine the rest of the game.
- The Lady Pirates again battled early in the second game pulling within a point, 5-4, on a kill by Delgado. Tennessee Tech went on yet another big run, 11-3, to run out 16-7. Susie Jeziorowski and Taylor Dorsey had two kills each in the run.
- Another big run doomed the Lady Pirates in the third game. Hampton trailed by just two, 11-9, after a service error, but the Golden Eagles reeled off four-straight points and eight of the next 10 to go up 19-11.

WHAT'S NEXT
Hampton will continue play in the Tennessee Tech Tournament Friday, facing New Orleans at 10 a.m. before doing battle with East Carolina at 3:30 p.m.
