HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Lady Pirates blistered the nets on Friday for six second half goals in an eight-minute span to shutout Lincoln University 10-0 on Friday afternoon at the HU Soccer Complex.
Sydney Jackson and
Kennedy Peace scored three goals apiece marking the first time a pair of Lady Pirates recorded hat-tricks in the same game.Â
Michelle Zilberman recorded a pair of goals and became the single-season goals scored record holder with six. Peace and Zilberman each recorded an assist as well as
Jaelyn Leslie.
Hampton held at 2-0 lead at the half as Jackson and
Leslie Jaiyesmi recorded goals in the opening half. That lead stayed till the 50-minute mark when Hampton erupted for six goals in an eight-minute span. Peace, Zilberman and Jackson each scored twice in that outburst as Hampton grew the lead to 8-0.
Peace finished her hat trick at the 68-minute mark and
Arielle Patterson scored on a breakaway at 73:13 as Hampton had its first home shutout in program history.
The Lady Pirates outshot Lincoln 34-7 in the game including 19-3 in the second half. Â Sophomore
Maya Andrews earned her second collegiate shutout making two saves.
Hampton (2-7) is now off until October 6 when they visit Delaware State for a 7pm kick in Dover, Delaware.
