WASHINGTON, DC – League leading Howard snapped a two-match winning streak by the Hampton Lady Pirates with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-20 win on Sunday at Burr Gym in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division matchup.
Freshman
Micah Leavell hand another solid contest with 14 kills and five digs to lead Hampton (5-16, 4-6) while senior
Brianna Lilly had 25 assists, three digs and two kills.
In an opening set that saw seven ties and four lead changes, Hampton evened the set at seven-all on a kill by
Ashlyn Dunlop. Howard went on a 12-5 run to lead 19-12 and took the first set 25-16.
Set two saw the Bison continue its run after
Ravyn Richardson's kill evened the match at three-all.  The Bison went on a 14-4 spurt to lead 17-7 en route to a 25-14 win.
Hampton opened the third set blistering on an 8-2 start with an ace by
Lena Washington. Howard followed with an 8-1 run to lead 10-9 after a Jessica Young kill.  From there, the lead was tied four times after a Hampton service error evened the match at 17-all. Howard scored seven straight points and won the final 25-20.
The Lady Pirates now head into the final week of the regular season with a matchup on November 4 at Delaware State at 6 pm and then at Norfolk State on November 6 at 3 pm.
