Women's Basketball Begins Practice Monday

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 21, 2026) … Late September brings a new sound to the campus of Hampton University with basketballs bouncing as practice kicked off for the 2026-27 Hampton Pirates women's basketball season on Monday.
Third-year head coach Tamisha Augustin returns five players from last season including Aaryn Battle, Janaye Walker, Arlisha Boston, Kiki McElrath and Kayla Lezama. Joining them will be six transfers and three freshmen.
The Pirates open the 2026-27 season on November 2 at Houston and then travel to Dallas to face SMU on November 5. They'll also visit High Point, Delaware, Winthrop, Howard and participate in the Florida International Christmas Classic for non-league games away from home.
Hampton will host The Apprentice School for its home opener on November 9 and then entertain Norfolk State on November 14 and Saint Francis on December 14 for its home non-conference games home games.
