HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 17, 2026) … The Hampton University volleyball team opens Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play Friday afternoon when they travel to Hofstra for two matches. Friday's match will begin at 5 p.m. and Saturday's will begin at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on FloCollege.Â
ABOUT HAMPTON:
- The Pirates enter the weekend with a record of 2-7, as they dropped three matches last weekend to FIU, Louisiana and Florida A&M.
- Racquel Frazier has hit the 100 kills mark with 102 through just nine games, while Katerina Pappa (89) and Nikola Jaroszewicz (79) each add more than 75. Frazier ranks 8th in the CAA in kills.
- Ana Luiza Caminha Matos leads the Pirates in assists on the season with 206, while Belen Ferrufino adds 61..
- Lillian Campbell has 20.0 blocks on the season, leading Hampton, while Jaroszewicz (13) and Janiah Robinson (10) each have 10 or more.Â
ABOUT HOFSTRA:
- The Pride were chosen second in the CAA preseason poll ahead of the season, after posting a record of 22-4, 13-3 in 2025.Â
- Beatriz Braga was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year ahead of the season, while Constanza Perez Sain was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team.
- Braga leads the team with 113 kills, while Perez Sain (86) and Maria Afonso (73) each have 70 or more.Â
- Nil Kayaalp ranks fourth in the CAA with 101 digs in 2026, while the Pride trio of Geovanna Goncalves Rocha (38.0), Julia Amorim (37.0) and Perez Sain (31.0) have 30 blocks or more on defense.Â
THE SERIES:
Hofstra holds the all-time series over Hampton with a 6-0 record. They won both matches a season ago inside of Holland Hall.Â
BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL:
Raquel Frazier leads the team in kills with 102, while also holding a team best 62 digs. She is currently on pace to set new career highs in both as she holds a 3.09 k/s and 1.88 d/s while last season she posted a 2.67 k/s and 1.23 d/s.Â
WORLD WIDE PIRATES
The Pirates have quite the variety of areas and regions on its 2026 roster. Six players are from overseas, while 10 players represent eight states. Overseas Pirates hail from Turkey, Greece, Bolivia, Poland and Brazil, while the states of Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio, New York, California and Virginia are also represented.Â
