
Pirates Travel to Tallahassee for Florida A&M Tournament

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 10, 2026) … The Hampton University volleyball team is back in action, traveling to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the Florida A&M Tournament.
ABOUT HAMPTON:
- The Pirates enter the weekend after a weekend split between UMES (3-0) and George Mason (0-3)
- Hampton was led offensively by the trio of Racquel Frazier (19) Katerina Pappa (18)and Nikola Jaroszewicz (17) who all recorded double-digit kills between the two games.
- Hampton is off to its best start since the 2022 season.
- Ana Luiza Caminha Matos leads the Pirates in assists on the season with 160.
- Janiah Robinson, Lillian Campbell and Jaroszewicz lead the Pirates in blocks with 10.0 a piece.
ABOUT FIU:
- FIU enters the weekend with wins over Stetson and Merrimack, while posting a record of 2-4.
- Lana Sesar (75) and Jillian Huckabey (61) lead the team in kills, while Ivona Lazovic (123) has a team high in assists.
- Defensively, Marta Lazzarin has a team best 87 digs.
- This marks the first time the Panthers will play Hampton.
ABOUT LOUISIANA:
- The Ragin Cajuns sport a 2-4 record ahead of the weekend, with wins over McNeese State and Southeastern Louisiana.
- Hampton and Louisiana have never played a match prior to this weekend.
- Lolo Lambert (74) and Sarah Schnell (62) are the lone Ragin Cajuns with 50 or more kills on the season.
- Lindsey Henry has 24.0 blocks on the season after posting 88.0 as a freshman in 2025.
ABOUT FLORIDA A&M:
- The Rattlers have wins over UMES and UConn, posting a 2-4 record in 2026.
- Florida A&M hold a 14-0 record all-time over Hampton.
- LaDonna Trantham returns after being named SWAC Freshman of the Year and SWAC All-Second Team in 2025. She currently ranks second on the team with 50 kills.
- Makenzie Taylor has 1287 assists in her career at Florida A&M, while having 166 through six games this year. She was named SWAC Tournament MVP in 2025.
DROPPING DIMES:
Ana Luiza Caminha Matos has 160 assists on the season with an average of 8.0 assists per set. That is the highest average assist per set average since 2016 when Brianna Lilly averaged 8.94 per set.
THREE-HEADED PIRATE:
The trio of Katerina Pappa (71), Racquel Frazier (71) and Nikole Jaroszewicz (57) have led the Pirates on offense through six games, combining for 199 of the team's 235 kills.
UP NEXT:
The Pirates will begin CAA play Friday, Sept. 18 when they travel to Hofstra for a two matches. Friday's match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
