Hampton Hosts Towson for Senior Day

HAMPTON, Va. (Apr. 11, 2026) … The Hampton University lacrosse team returns to action Saturday when they play host to conference foe Towson at 12:00 p.m. for senior day. 

Hampton dropped last weekend's game against Drexel 22-6 inside of Armstrong Stadium where the Pirates saw senior Darius Stanley lead the way with two goals on the afternoon. Miles Lancaster posted 10 saves for Hampton, and Edward Johnson added five of his own.  

LAST MEETING
Towson won last year's meeting 25-3. Reed Shaw and Jadon Meyers each scored in the contest.

ABOUT HAMPTON
Freshman Anthony Bardonille, Jr. leads the Pirates with 26 goals on the season, while Maliik Wood (21) and Darius Stanley (12) each have 10 goals or more on the year. Bardonille Jr., Wood, and James Green have each dished out a team high nine assists on the season. Hampton has scored 88 goals on the season with three games to go, after scoring just 72 a season ago. 13 Pirates have netted a goal on the season, as defensmen Amare Ford put his first career goal in the back of the net last game against Drexel.

In the net, Hampton is led by Miles Lancaster's 138 saves on the season, where he currently holds a .433 save percentage, while starting all ten games. He has recorded 10 saves or more in seven games for the Pirates. Edward Johnson has appeared in three games for Hampton, saving 21 shots this season. He holds a .600 save percentage.  Judah Johnson-Nixon has recorded a team best nine caused turnovers on the season while Amare Ford and Aryon Norton each have seven. Matthew Hall has served as the team's faceoff specialist the last three games, taking 11 faceoffs or more in each. 

Bardonille Jr. is tied for second in the nation among all freshman with 26 goals and is tied for most goals in a single season in Hampton history. 

ABOUT TOWSON
The Tigers have two of the league's top three goal scorers in Mikey Weisshaar (31) and Joaquin Villagomez (28). Weisshaar has had a decorated career for the Tigers being named to numerous All-CAA awards as well as All-American honorees. He has scored 138 goals in his career, while also dishing out 68 assists. In the net, Matt Nilan has started all 10 games, recording 123 saves on the year. He holds a .528 save percentage on the season. Joe'll Spagnuolo has a team high, 16 caused turnovers on the season. 

The Tigers have a ranked win this season over #17 Virginia 13-9 on Mar. 7. 

Towson has been in the top 20 of the USILA Coaches Poll each of the last five weeks, coming in at 16 this week. The Tigers have rattled off 21 consecutive CAA regular season wins, dating back to the 2023 season

CHASING HISTORY 
Freshman Anthony Bardonille Jr. is looking to become Hampton's record holder for goals scored in a season as he is currently tied for first with 26. He has been named to the CAA Rookie of the Week two times this season, and is also looking to become the second Pirate in the school's history to earn an All-Rookie Team nod as Alex Lacey was selected to the team in 2025. No Pirates has ever been selected as the leagues Rookie of the Year. 

SENIOR SEND OFF
Hampton is set to honor 10 players Saturday against Towson for senior day where they will be honored for a pregame ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Darius Stanley, Myles Johnson, Kevin Wallace, Amare Ford, Craig Williams, Trevor Tran, Canyon Steverson, Dillion Bethea, and David Jackson have all been four-year team members for the Pirates, while James Greene has been with the Pirates for one after transfering in from Hobart. 

CONSISTENTLY SCORING
Hampton has scored seven goals or more in eight of the teams ten games this season. The Pirates only accomplished that feat twice a season ago. 

FIRST-YEAR LEAP
Vincent Culpepper is leading the Pirates to massive leaps in year one. Hampton is currently averaging 8.80 goals per game after just 4.80 a season ago. The Pirates have already scored seven goals or more in seven of the eight games this season. The Pirates currently rank first in the league in man-up goals per game at 1.20.

UP NEXT
Hampton hits the road Saturday, Apr. 18 when they travel to Hofstra for their final road contest of the 2026 season. The game is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
