HARRISONBURG, Va. (Feb. 20, 2026) … The Hampton University men's tennis team fell to in-state foe James Madison University Friday afternoon 6-1. 

JMU jumped out to an early lead in the match earning the first point after taking the doubles point at one and three. The Dukes then added on to their lead in singles as JMU won the six and four slots. 

Rafael Padhila then got the Pirates on the board winning his second consecutive singles match, this time 6-2, 6-1 to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of JMU. The Dukes quickly regained the momentum, winning the next three singles matches at 5,1, and 3 to eventually defeat Hampton 6-1.

Hampton returns to action Feb. 28 when they play their first home meet against Longwood. The match will be played at Phoebus High at 1 p.m.
