Volleyball opens CAA play at Elon

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 18, 2025) ... The 2025 Hampton University volleyball team travels to Elon to open CAA conference play this weekend. They will play at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. The Pirates are coming off a weekend where they dropped matches to Gardner-Webb and Navy in the Navy Invitational. 

The Pirates begin conference play with a record of 1-8. Hampton won its first game of the season, and first in the Ronaldo Pacheco era when they defeated Le Moyne 3-2 on Sept. 6. 

Last season, Elon took down Hampton in both matches in Holland Hall. In match one, Ida Wiszomirska led the Pirates with 18 assists, while Morgan Warren led Hampton in game two with 17. Maria Clara Andrade added eight digs and seven kills on the weekend. 

Elon leads the all-time series 11-1.

All matches will have live stats and will be streamed on FloSports.

ABOUT HAMPTON
Racquel Frazier currently ranks sixth in the conference with 97 kills. She is also eighth in the conference in points with 106 on the season. Warren leads the Pirates in assists with 201, best for eighth in the CAA. Nationally, Frazier ranks in the top 150 individually in attacks per set (9.94).

Frazier leads the Pirates in kills, while Jaya Rimm (49) and Katerina Pappa (38) have over 30. Warren (58), Andrade (44), Frazier (44), Nia Thomas (41) and Rimm (40) have all logged over 40 digs in 2025.

Gabby (Calloway) Tlelima makes her return to Hampton as an assistant coach for the 2025 season. Tlelima spent four years playing for the Pirates from 2018-2022 where she played in 91 matches. She recorded 709 kills over the course of her career, adding 717 digs. 

ETCHING MY NAME IN HISTORY
Racquel Frazier imposed her will against Le Moyne recording a school record for a five set match with 34 kills. Morgan Warren posted 53 assists, which was best for fourth all-time in assists for a match that went five sets.

ABOUT ELON
Elon's offense is led by Cameron Lanier (84), Clara Simmons (65) and Simrin Carlsens (60) who have all registered over 60 kills on the season. Defensively, Carlsen ranks 10th in the CAA with 89 digs on the 2025 campaign. April Rice leads the Phoenix in assists with 190, best for 10th in the conference. 

The Phoenix lone win on the season came against Delaware St. 3-1 on Sept. 6. Last weekend, Elon dropped contests to Clemson, Wofford and USC Upstate in the Clemson/Wofford Tournament.

Hampton returns to action for a non-conference match with Norfolk State Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in Gill Gymnasium.
