HAMPTON, Va. (March 28, 2025) … The Hampton University lacrosse team returns to the friendly confines of Armstrong Stadium on Saturday morning with a Coastal Athletic Association matchup against the Monmouth Hawks at 11 a.m.
Hampton (0-10, 0-2) enters the match after falling 18-3 to Delaware on March 22, as
Jadon Meyers scored twice and
Sebastian West added one goal and one assist. Monmouth (3-6, 0-2) fell 15-9 to Hofstra on March 22 as Brendan Dundas had three goals and four assists.
LAST MEETING
Monmouth defeated Hampton 15-4 on April 6, 2024, in West Long Branch, N.J. West,
Mamadou Meite,
Jonathan Angel, and
Miles Fawcett scored goals for the Pirates while Fawcett also tallied an assist.
ABOUT HAMPTON
West leads the team in scoring with five goals and a team-high 10 assists for 15 points.
AJ Knox leads in goals scored with 10 and adds one assist for 11 points, while
Reed Shaw has eight goals and two assists for 10 points.
With his assist, West is now tied with Derian Williams-Sturdivant for fifth on the single season assist list with 10.
Knox's 10 goals are approaching the all-time single season top 10 list as he's three away from tying Kendall Sapp (2019) and Jordan Brown (2019) for that spot.
The Pirates have scored a pair of man down goals this season which is tops in the Coastal Athletic Association. Hampton's man down defense is ranked 35th nationally and they lead the NCAA in saves per game, averaging 17.5 saves per contest.
ABOUT MONMOUTH
Dundas is one of three Hawks with double figure goals as he leads the Hawks in scoring with 14 goals and a team-high 11 assists for 25 points. Connor Gorman has 17 goals and three assists for 20 points and Ty Caffarelli leads in goals with 18.
Tommy Heller has a .513 save percentage in the net and allowing 10.8 goals per game.
