HAMPTON, Va. (February 27, 2025) … The Hampton University women's basketball team hits the Convocation Center floor for their final home weekend of the season starting on Friday night when they entertain Hofstra at 7 p.m.
Last year, these teams played three times, including the opening round of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament. Hampton won the regular season meetings with a 67-62 decision at home on January 28, 2024, and a 48-42 win at Hofstra on March 1, 2024. The Pride won the CAA Tournament meeting 71-55 on March 13, 2024.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Hampton starts its final home weekend coming off a 70-58 loss to the College of Charleston on Tuesday afternoon.
Jasha Clinton scored 17 points, four assists, and four steals, while
Le'Asia Foreman had her second double-double of the year with 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
The Pirates used a 12-0 run in the second quarter to pull back into the contest and trail 29-28 at half. Charleston used a 19-11 fourth quarter to pull away and take the victory on Tuesday.
Clinton leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game, while also leading in steals (55) and third in assists (51).
Aisha Dabo is second in scoring (7.7 ppg) and in rebounding (4.2 rpg), while
Jenae Dublin is third in scoring (7.6 ppg) and leading in rebounding (5.3 rpg).
ABOUT HOFSTRA
Hofstra heads to the 757 having lost seven of its last eight games but snapped that streak with a 57-54 win over Monmouth in their last game on February 23. Emma Von Essen hit a three-pointer with five seconds left, and Zyheima Swint had a double-double of 16 points and 11 boards to lead the Pride.
Chloe Sterling leads the team in scoring at 13.0, while Von Essen is next at 10.9 points per game, and LaNae Corbett averages 10.3 points per game and is third on the team in rebounding at 5.9 per contest.
The Pride is headed in rebounding by Ramatoulaye Keita, averaging 7.5 per game, and Swint averages 7.1 per contest. As a team, they're outrebounding opponents 40.0 to 38.4 per game.
