Peninah Mutisya obliterated her previous school record in the women's 3000 meters with a dramatic finish to lead the Hampton University indoor track and field teams at the Penn State National Open this weekend.
Mutisya, who earlier this season broke the record with a 9:32.02 at the Penn Open, ran 8:59.092 on Saturday in the invitational race to edge out Joy Nakuot of West Virginia by four one-thousandths of a second as she ran 8:59.096.
The new mark for Mutisya gives her the top time in the CAA by 27 seconds and is 14
th best nationally.
