Lonnie Jones and Derian Williams-Sturdivant scored two goals and assisted on two others each as Hampton closed out its 2019 season with a 13-8 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday.
The teams traded goals in the first period as the Spartans took a 5-3 lead on a John LaBella goal at the 13:14 mark.Ā Hampton cut the deficit in half on a
Nathan Brungot goal 10 seconds later off a feed by Williams-Sturdivant.Ā St. Thomas Aquinas pushed the lead to three on a pair of goals in a five minute span for a 7-4 margin.
Jordan Brown and Jones closed the scoring for Hampton in the first half to get the Pirates to 8-6 with 3:14 left.Ā The hosts scored the next five goals to push the lead to 13-6 with 10:36 left in the game, but goals by Jones and Williams-Sturdivant closed the scoring in the 13-8 decision.
Jonathan Napier added a goal and three assists,
Josh Square had a goal and an assist to round out the scoring for Hampton (6-5).Ā The six wins marks a porgram best in the fourth year of existence.
