HAMPTON, Va. – A 5-0 start in the first 10 minutes of Wednesday's men's lacrosse match jump started Hampton as they rolled to a 15-5 win over Bethany College (WV) at Armstrong Stadium.
Pierce Johnson scored all three of his goals in the opening blast and also added two assists on the day.
Carter Boone had three goals and three assists, while Derian Williams-Sturdivant added three goals and one assist.
Michael Lawrence was the leading scorer for Hampton in the game with four goals and two assists.
Johnson's third goal with 5:01 left in the first period gave Hampton a 5-0 lead. The first of two goals by Bryan Uth of Bethany brought the Bison to a 7-3 halftime deficit.
Hampton opened the second half like the first and outscored Bethany 6-0 in the third period. Boone and Williams-Sturdivant scored two goals apiece in the period that saw Hampton outshoot Bethany 20-1.
The Pirates are now on the road for the next couple games visiting Wagner on March 20.
