Jermaine Marrow had 29 points and seven assists, while
Kalin Fisher added 17 points as Hampton put away a pesky Saint Leo squad 72-60 on Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a Ty Foreman jumper brought the Lions to 8-7 at the 17:30 mark, Hampton went on an 11-2 run to lead 19-9 after a Ben Stanley jumper with 12:57 left.
- The Lions cut the lead to 23-22 with 5:31 left in the half on an Isaiah Hill layup but Hampton responded with a 9-2 spurt to take the lead back to 32-24 on a pair of Marrow free throws at the 2:23 mark.
- In the second half, the lead grew to as much as 15 points on a Stanley layup with 13:09 left as Hampton held a 54-39 lead. The Lions made a run trimming it to 61-54 on a Junior Searcy layup with 7:26 left.Â
- A 3-pointer by Greg Heck stall pushed the lead back to ten points at 64-54 with 7:05 left. From there Marrow scored the last eight points to give Hampton the win.
BEHIND THE BOXSCORE
- Marrow scored 29 points to go with seven assists and five rebounds.  He is now at 1.421 points in his career and is 13th on the all-time scoring list.  He was 12-of-14 from the line and is now tenth on the all-time free throws made list with 348.
- Fisher added 15 points going 6-of-11 from floor and 5-of-7 from foul line. He is now 47 points from 1,000 in his career.
- Akim Mitchell added six points and a game-high nine rebounds as well for Hampton.

Hampton participates in the DC Holiday Hoops Festival on December 22 when the Battle of the Real HU takes place between the Pirates and the Bison of Howard at approximately 5pm. The game takes place in the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, DC.
