HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University lacrosse team faces off against the University of District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon at 2pm inside Armstrong Stadium.
 
SCOUTING HAMPTON
The Pirates enter the game with an 0-1 record after falling 20-8 to Roberts Wesleyan College on February 17.  Hampton was paced by Kendall Sapp and John Tarver who had two goals apiece.  Lemuel Randolph had a goal and a team-high two assists.
Scoring three of the first four goals in the game, Hampton trailed 10-7 at intermission.  Roberts Wesleyan broke the game open in the second half scoring eight straight goals.

SCOUTING UDC
The Firebirds set a program record for goals in a game, but fell 18-17 in their season opener with Ohio Valley on February 21.  Zach Hart, Syrrus Nash and LaRon Hinton had four goals each to lead UDC while Hinton also added two assists.

HBCU BATTLE
This will be a battle of the only NCAA Division II (UDC) and I (Hampton) men's lacrosse programs in the country.

First-ever meeting between the Firebirds and the Pirates.

GAME 1 NOTES – ROBERTS WESLEYAN

• First time in program history held a lead in a game (twice)
• Largest lead in program history (3-1)
• Sapp and Tarver join four others as players scoring two goals in a game – no one has had a hat trick yet.
• Eight goals is the most scored in a game by the Pirates topping the five against Thiel on Feb. 27, 2016
• Four assists is the most in a game by the Pirates topping the three done twice last year.
• The record for most shots in a game by the Pirates was broken with 26

Hampton will close out its season-opening three-game homestand on March 4 when they face Greensboro College in a 4pm start at Armstrong Stadium.
