Ashley Carter enters her second season on Coach Cat Tarvin’s coaching staff. Under Carter’s direction, the team saw a .015 increase in the team's batting average and hit seven more home runs. The Pirates during the 2025 season also recorded 29 fewer strikeouts at the plate and a .032 increase in the slugging percentage. Kylee Quinn and Kylie Hill saw massive improvements to their batting averages. Hill’s average jumped from .213 to .379 in her sophomore season. Quinn jumped from a .208 to a .308 average in the 2025 campaign.
Over the last two years with her company, she spent time helping athletic coaches retain and recruit student-athletes who fit their culture, mission, and goals. Coach Carter was able to have success with her endeavors during the Name Image & Likeness (NIL) and transfer portal era of college athletics. Her company worked with programs from across the collegiate athletics landscape helping Eastern Oregon, Iowa State, Sacramento State, and Texas.
Carter began her coaching career at Menlo serving as an assistant coach under Matt Lisle. During her time with the program, she became crucial to teaching hitting concepts. With her having quick success through relating with the athletes on a human level, Carter’s role within the coaching staff grew to coaching first base, outfield, and leading individual hitting workouts. In the year with the Oaks, the team broke multiple offensive school records.
With a successful year at Menlo, Carter earned her first opportunity head coaching opportunity at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, Calif. In her two seasons of running the show, the Argonauts increased its winning total every season. Under Coach Carter, the program saw success off the field with the team seeing an increase in retention rate and GPAs.
After two successful seasons at Notre Dame de Namur, she returned to Menlo. During Cater’s second stint during with the Oaks, she also served as the Associate Director of Admissions. The 2020 season would be cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the season came to an abrupt end the team had a batting average of .320, a .459 slugging percentage, and an on-base percentage of .454.
Once the world of college athletics resumed, Carter joined the coaching staff at Washington. She served as the co-hitting coach, catching coach, and assisted in recruiting student-athletes. During her one season with the Huskies, the team broke the homerun record tallying 90 in the 2022 season.
