Trevor Trout joined the Hampton coaching staff after a year as a defensive graduate assistant at Sacramento State. The Hornets finished the season with a 7-5 mark under Head Coach Alonzo Carter.
 
Trout helped lead the Hornets defense with particular emphasis on the defensive line. Sacramento State’s defense was the second-ranked unit in the Big Sky Conference yielding just 366.9 yards per game. The Hornets ranked third in rushing defense (150.3 yards per contest) and third in pass defense (216.6 yards per game). The team was tied for third in the Big Sky in pass interceptions with 12.
 
With guidance and instruction from Trout, defensive lineman Dylan Hampsten was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22, 2025. Hampsten had five tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss in a 45-16 victory over Central Arkansas. Sacramento State had 13 tackles for loss and eight sacks in the game.
 
Trout played at Southern Cal as a defensive lineman before injuries cut short his career in 2020. Club personnel evaluator and assistant salary cap specialist.
 
The Ferguson, Mo., native played his prep football at Chaminade College Prep where he made the 2017 Prep Star Dream Team as a two-way tackle. In 2016, he was named second-team All-Missouri by USA Today as well as first-team All-District, All-Metro Catholic Conference while recording 60 tackles with four sacks. As a sophomore, Chaminade played for the Class 5 State championship. In 2014, he was selected to the Max Preps Freshman All-American team.
