Men's Cross Country Takes 11th In Season Opener

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (Sept. 5, 2026) … The Hampton University men's cross country team opened the 2026 campaign on Saturday morning with an 11th place finish at the Spider Alumni Open at Pole Green Park.
William & Mary won the team title with 33 points edging Georgetown (34) and Norfolk State (65) in the top three of 14 teams.
Khalid Hamid was the top finisher for Hampton coming in 54th place covering the 6k course in 20:31.2. Mohammed Al-YaFee was next for the Pirates in 65th with a time of 20:55.9. Other Hampton finishers included: Dominic Bassey (84th/22:01.4), Xavier Jemison (97th/22:23.6); Bryce Mays (113th/23:02.3) and Jordan Dones (123rd/23:43.2).
Hampton will next run in the CNU Invitational on September 18.
