Cross Country Heads To CNU Invitational Friday

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 17, 2026) … The Hampton University cross country teams will run in the "757" this week as they'll participate in the CNU Invitational at the Lee Hall Mansion course in Newport News on Friday night. The men's 8k race kicks the event off at 5:30 p.m., while the women's 6k race starts approximately 6:20 p.m.
A total of 10 teams will compete in the event: Bryant & Stratton (Va.), Chowan, Christopher Newport, Elizabeth City State, Norfolk State, Regent, Richard Bland, VCU, Virginia Union and the Pirates.
Last time out the men finished 11th and the women took seventh in the Spider Alumni Open on September 5. Peninah Mutisya won the women's 4k race in 13:55.4, while Khalid Hamid was the top men's finisher coming in 54th place in 20:31.2.
Hampton will head back up Interstate 64 on October 2 for the Richmond Invitational in Mechanicsville.
