Hampton’s 68 Oak Collective and Bespoken Spirits Create New Revenue Opportunity for Hampton Student-Athletes
9.29.26 | General, Hampton Athletics Foundation
HAMPTON, Va. (September 29, 2026) ... Hampton University Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson Sr. announced today a unique partnership between the 68 Oak NIL Collective and Bespoken Spirits. Through the collaboration, Bespoken Spirits will develop a custom private-label bourbon under the 68 Oak NIL Collective brand, creating a new fan-engagement and revenue-generating opportunity in support of Hampton University Athletics.
The 68 Oak NIL Collective will receive a royalty on every bottle purchased, while Bespoken Spirits will be responsible for the partnership's financial commitments. The arrangement is designed to create an additional revenue stream that supports the collective's work advancing name, image, and likeness opportunities for Hampton student-athletes.
"This partnership represents an innovative way to bring together the strength of the Hampton brand, the passion of our alumni and supporters, and our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for student-athletes," said Henderson. "68 Oak is built to help our student-athletes benefit from the power of their name, image, and likeness. Collaborating with Bespoken Spirits gives our community another distinctive way to support that mission while celebrating the pride, tradition and excellence that define Hampton University."
Created by a group of investors and alumni in conjunction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the 68 Oak Collective is dedicated to fostering NIL opportunities for Hampton student-athletes by expanding the reach of their personal brands through endorsements, sponsorships, digital content, and related initiatives.
As Hampton Athletics continues to evolve, support beyond tuition and traditional funding has become increasingly important. Through the 68 Oak Collective initiative, donor and community investments help provide additional resources that enhance facilities, travel, and the overall student-athlete experience.
Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, Bespoken Spirits has developed a collegiate NIL portfolio that includes partnerships with Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Connecticut, and the Atlantic 10 Conference. Its prior collective collaborations have directed a portion of bottle-sale proceeds to NIL support, providing a relevant model for the Hampton partnership.
"We are thrilled to welcome Hampton University as the first HBCU in the Bespoken Spirits NIL family. Hampton University represents everything we look for in a partner: tradition, pride, community, and a commitment to excellence," said Twany Beckham, director of business development, Bespoken Spirits. "Together, we have an opportunity to create something special that not only celebrates the Hampton brand but also helps create new revenue opportunities that support student-athletes. We believe this partnership is the beginning of something much bigger, and we couldn't be more excited to get started."
Specific product details, including availability, retail locations, pricing, and launch timing, will be announced at a later date.
