Men's Basketball Opens 2026-27 With First Official Practice Monday

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 21, 2026) … The Hampton University men's basketball team opens practice Monday afternoon.
Third-year head coach Ivan Thomas leads the Pirates into 2026-27 with four returners in Etienne Strothers, Aidan Haskins, Kellan Lewis and Hamza Asadallah. The Pirates will have a new look roster this season, as the remainder of the roster is made up of eight transfers and five freshmen.
Hampton is set to open the season Tuesday, Nov. 3 when they travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on Georgia Tech. Their non-conference schedule is slated for nine games away from the Convocation Center, while playing Apprentice School, Norfolk State, Mid Atlantic-Christian, Maryland Eastern Shore and Regent at home.
