Pirates Swept In Friday Doubleheader

HAMPTON, Va. (April 3, 2026) … The Hampton Pirates softball team dropped a Friday doubleheader to visiting UNCW 7-0 and 9-1 on a warm Friday afternoon at the Pirates Softball Stadium.
GAME 1 – UNCW 7, Hampton 0
The Seahawks got on the board in the second with a three-run home run from Madison Biddle after hits from Ava Brookshire and Allison Corbin. UNCW's remaining runs came in off the bat of Corbin who had a two-run home run in the third and RBI doubles in the fifth and sixth innings.
Hampton's hit came in the sixth off the bat of Carmynn Bonner with a two-out single to right. Corbin ended the game 4-for-4 with four RBIs
GAME 2 – UNCW 9, Hampton 1
UNCW started the scoring in the third with a run off an error and an infield single from Emily Whitwell.
Hampton scratched its run in the bottom of the third as with one out Riley Bohanon doubled down the right field line and went to third on an infield single by Kamryn Brown. After a strikeout, Bohanon scored on a wild pitch to trim the deficit to 2-1.
The Seahawks got three more in the fifth and a pair in the sixth and seventh innings.
Brown and Bohanon had two hits each for the Pirates, while Bonner and Camryn Hamilton added one apiece. Allison Corbin and Peyton Carver had two hits each for UNCW.
These teams will close their three-game series with a single game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
