Khalil Hamid Leads Pirate Finishers At Richmond Invitational

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (October 2, 2026) … The Hampton University men's cross country team sent four runners to the Richmond Invitational on Friday morning at Pole Green Park and came out with a pair of top 55 finishes.
Senior Khalil Hamid was the top runner for Hampton as he was 47th covering the 8k course in 26:33.8. This marks the third straight race that Hamid was the top finisher for the Pirates.
Mohammed Al-YaFee was 54th as he ran 26:42.4 marking a season best 8k time for the senior.
Dominic Bassey was 115th in the event running 29:29.7 which was just off his personal best set at the CNU Invite two weeks ago in 29:28.0.
Bryce Mays rounded out the Pirates in the race finishing 132nd in 31:49.3.
High Point won the team race with 55 points, followed by Duke (59) and George Washington (83).
Hampton will run again on Oct. 30 at the CAA Championships in Bethpage, N.Y.
