Pirates Drop Final Home Contest to North Carolina A&T

HAMPTON, Va. (April 27, 2025) … The Hampton University softball team played its final home game of the 2025 season. The Pirates fell to the North Carolina A&T Aggies 16-0 in five innings on Senior Day.
North Carolina A&T jumped out to a sizeable lead in the first frame. The Aggies were able to score eight runs on only five hits. North Carolina A&T also took advantage of a pair of errors committed by the Pirates.
While Hampton's offense was held quite at the bottom of the first, Carmynn Bonner recorded HU's first hit of the game in the second frame. With only one out on the board, the Pirates had the bases loaded after a base knock by Cassidy Lee and a fielding error. Hampton could not bring in a run with the Aggies recording consecutive strikeouts.
North Carolina A&T continued to build upon its early advantage. The Aggies were able to manufacture runs in the second and third innings. In the top of the fifth, North Carolina A&T's offense caught fire again. The Aggies were able to produce six runs of five hits.
While the Pirates had opportunities with runners in scoring position, North Carolina A&T continued to hold Hampton's offense quiet.
