Lady Pirates Drop Second Match To Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2024) … Hampton University volleyball team fell in their second match against the Hofstra Pride in three sets on Saturday evening. The sets ended 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21.
Hampton jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set taking the the first five points. The Lady Pirates took advantage of two errors made by the Pride and Madison Clark produced back-to-back points. Once Hofstra tied the set at 6-6, the Pride went on a 12-2 run putting the stanza out of reach.
In the second frame, the Lady Pirates found themselves trailing early 15-8. Hampton brought it back within five points multiple times throughout the set. Towards the end of the stanza, HU was only down 19-15. Out of the 10 remaining points, the Pride won six to secure a 2-0 advantage.
Throughout the third set, neither the Lady Pirates nor the Pride could jump out to an early lead. There was a total of four lead changes and it would be tied on eight different separate occasions. The Pride started to pull away after the 14-14 mark. Hofstra rallied off three straight points. While the Pride and Hampton had the same amount of kills (15), the Lady Pirates committed three more errors.
Both Madison Clark and Brooklynn Paterson led Hampton in kills with six. Ida Wiszomirska tallied 11 assists and teammate Morgan Warren had nine. Senior Cortni Adams produced a season-high four blocks.
Up next, the Lady Pirates return to action on Thursday, Oct. 3 inside Holland Hall against Elon.
