
Track and Field Set for South Carolina Invite

HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 1, 2024) – The Pirates men's and women's track & field teams are set to compete at the South Carolina Invite tomorrow (Feb. 2) and Saturday (Feb. 3).
The other teams that are competing include Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alabama-Huntsville, Benedict, Bethune-Cookman, Charleston Southern, The Citadel, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Florida A&M, Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State, Lenoir-Rhyne, South Carolina, South Carolina State, Tennessee, and USC Upstate.
Friday's meet day has been deemed more of an 'open' style meet while Saturday's is 'invite' only. The women's high jump kicks off Friday's field events at 10:00 AM. The first track event is the women's 60m hurdles at 10:00. On Saturday, the same two events start the day at the exact same times.

Highlights from Last Week at the PSU National
Dugion Blackman finished first in his heat in the 800m (1:48.40) and ended up placing sixth overall in the event. He was recognized as the CAA's Men's Track Athlete of the Week and holds the fastest 800m time in the conference this season and the 21st best 800m run in the nation.
Freshmen Antoine Spencer ran a spectacular race as he won the 200m dash with a time of 21.74. Qhiyal Towns earned fifth place in that same event (21.78). Sophomore Emmani Shaw grabbed third place in the high jump at 1.73m.
Both the men's and women's 4x400m teams posted successful outings. Kayla Spencer, Morgan Pruitt, Jordan Mozie and Dejah Grant won the women's race with a time of 3:43.41. On the men's side, Drake Murphy, Antoine Spencer, Korede Otusaio and Dugion Blackman earned third place (3:14.95).
