HAMPTON, VA— The Hampton University softball team concluded the Pirate-Spartan Classic with an 11-2 loss to Hofstra and a convincing 11-2 win over South Carolina State University. As the Lady Pirates split day three of the Pirate-Spartan Classic, they are now 11-5 on the year.  Â
In the opener with Hofstra, the Pride took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the second. The Lady Pirates would respond in the bottom of the second as leadoff batter
Daniella Milloy sent a single back up the middle. Following a walk to
Kennedy Hickey,
Morgan Crawford laid down a sweet sacrifice bunt to advance Milloy to third and Hickey to second. The Lady Pirates tied the score at 2-2 when
Sarah Kollas smoked a double to left center scoring Milloy and Hickey. Â
Hofstra broke the game open with five runs in the sixth and four in the seventh for the win. The Pride pushed five runs in the sixth and four runs in the seventh to seal the win.
Taylor Warrick was 2-for-4 and Kollas was 2-for-3 to lead Hampton against Hofstra at the plate.
In game two,
DaSha Hill would go 3-for-3 scoring two RBI's.
Brianna Anderson drove in two runs, and
Samyah Richardson and Kollas both drove in two runs to help the Lady Pirates cruise past the Bulldogs 11-2.
Allie Hotetz earned the win throwing four innings allowing three hits and striking out five to push her record to 5-2 on the year.
Hampton returns to action on Tuesday in a 2pm doubleheader against South Carolina State.
