HAMPTON, VA. – The Hampton University women's soccer team fell 2-0 on Friday to the visiting Citadel Bulldogs at the Hampton University Soccer Complex.
Citadel took an early 1-0 lead with 28:24 left in the opening half as Emile Valenciano stole a pass and beat
Maya Andrews to the far post for the early advantage. The visitors peppered Andrews in the first half with 20 shots.
In the second half, the Bulldogs got the insurance goal with just over nine minutes left as Samara Niche also beat Andrews to the far post with a blast for the 2-0 lead.
Citadel outshot Hampton 37-12 as Andrews made 18 saves for the Lady Pirates. Hampton put nine shots on goal as Abby Koger and Logan Leask had four and five saves apiece for Citadel.
Hampton will close out its 2016 season on Sunday at 2 pm when they host South Carolina State at the HU Soccer Complex.
